There is some good news for all of those who are wondering how far developed the iPhone baseband downgrade method was. According to MuscleNerd, the challenge to hack the baseband is still in their purview but only to be worked upon after releasing the much awaited iPhone 4 unlock on baseband 3.10.01 and 2.10.04.

The method which is still currently in its initial stage is supposed to downgrade the iPhone baseband (including 06.15.00) to a baseband version that can be unlocked using UltraSn0w. Earlier, the iPhone Dev Team provided a way around to unlock the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G by updating its original baseband 05.15 and 05.15 to 06.15.00.
