Earlier today, the famous dev-team member MuscleNerd tweeted that he and his fellow dev-team members have successfully tweaked their iPhone unlocking utility to work on Apple’s latest mobile OS, iOS 4.2.1. The tweet read:
When we update ultrasn0w today, 100′s of thousands (maybe millions?) will see red badge. Trying to make it safe for all.
If you happened to read further down the Twitter line, it looks like Ultrsn0w is only going to work on the iPhone 3G / 3GS handsets for the time being since they have a baseband of 05.15.04; the iPhone 4 currently uses a different baseband and still needs more work. The iPhone 4 baseband, 02.10.04 has been confirmed for an unlock but more time is needed for the dev-team to fix all the bugs and issues for the public. Even though the updated utility won’t have a one-stop unlock for alliPhones, the dev-team will be releasing the working version of ultasn0w for the iPhone 3G / 3GS in the near future – they won’t be making all users wait until the iPhone 4 exploit is complete as well.
