Planetbeing was the hacker who previously ported Android 2.2 Froyo to the iPhone using open iBoot which was only limited to the iPhone 3G. The iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS running the Android OS will soon be a reality. Cpich2g, a member of the iPhone Dev Team who earlier engaged in the iPhone Linux

project, stated that he managed to patch the kernel so that it would accept NOR images that exceed the predetermined limit. That doesn’t mean much for many people, but it basically has made significant progress in installing Android on the iPhone 4. Even Pod2g has confirmed the iDroid installation on the iPhone 4 in reply to one of the questions from a user on Twitter.

Cpich3G first tweeted:

Patched kernel to accept oversized NOR images, lucky there is room left – 1 step closer to userland idroid installation (for older devices)

Another user by the name of Aligreens asked Pod2g who re-tweeted the following message:

Does this mean we’ll see Android on the iPhone 4 soon?

Where Pod2g replied on a positive note:

yeah, why not ? :)

We anticipate to see a video demo of Android running on the iPhone 4 soon after the team releases the iPhone 4 jailbreak for iOS 4.1. How many of you are excited for the port?
