Want to win a massive, 15-disc Lord of the Rings box set to rule them all?

Punch in your expectations for Peter Jackson’s cinematic adaptation of The Hobbit in the comments section below for your chance at winning one of three Blu-ray copies of The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (Extended Edition + Digital Copy).

Scores of makeshift Orcs and Halflings are expected to line up Monday night in Los Angeles for the Middle-Earth Midnight Madness event marking the $120 box set’s Tuesday release. On hand to sign copies for the first 150 fans in line: Actor John Noble, who creeped out viewers as The Return of the King’s Denethor (and currently stars as Walter Bishop in sci-fi show Fringe). Stuntman Sala Baker, who inhabited various Orcs and even the Dark Lord Sauron in the Rings movie trilogy, will be doing the same.

Meanwhile, Lord of the Rings fans and cosplay addicts dressed as their favorite J.R.R. Tolkien characters will compete in a costume contest judged via Skype by Weta Workshop co-owner and creative director Richard Taylor, as well as the hard-core faithful at TheOneRing.net. Prizes in the costume contest include an all-expense-paid trip to New Zealand’s iconic Hobbit filming location and expensive replicas of the One Ring and Frodo’s sword Sting. There will also be giveaways and tickets to see theatrical screenings of the Lord of the Rings extended edition.

Fireworks, that favorite Hobbit visual feast, take flight at five before midnight. The party, to paraphrase Bilbo’s memorable song, goes ever on and on.

If you can’t make the festivities in Los Angeles, jump into the comments section below and let us know your geeky vision for Jackson’s two-party The Hobbit film, currently in production in New Zealand. The three most convincing exercises of unfettered fandom make the extended journey to collector heaven and get a copy of The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (Extended Edition + Digital Copy). Entries must be received by 12:01 a.m. Pacific on July 4, 2011. Winners must live in the United States.
