iconNotifier: Icon Based Notification System For Jailbroken iOS Devices
We have told you about our disdain for the way iOS currently handles notifications over and over, and now there’s an alternative on the block – iconNotifier. The idea is an interesting one – once installed via Cydia, the tweak will block the standard iOS notification popups and reroute them through a new icon based notification system. What this means is from now on, all notifications will scroll underneath the icon for the app that generated them, replacing the name of the app itself. Not all major apps are currently supported, but all the major ones are: Phone Voicemail SMS Push Calendar Alarm Timer Low Power Warnings iPod Popup Blocker As with any tweak or app available from Cydia, you will need to have a jailbroken iPhone or iPod Touch to install it. You can follow our step by step guide posted here to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch with Redsn0w on iOS 4.2.1 (or untethered with GreenPois0n RC5), or with Limera1n on iOS 4.1, or with PwnageTool on iOS 4.3 (Sn0wbreeze if you are on Windows) if you haven’t already. Check out the video demo embedded below to see how it works: You can head on over to Cydia and try it for yourself. iconNotifier is priced at $2.99 and is available via the BigBoss repo. If you do try it out, let us know what you think of it in the comments below! Stay tuned for more on this topic by following us on Twitter and/or by subscribing our RSS Feed. Related Posts Authors:
