iPhone Dev team had released PwnageTool 4.1 for Mac OS X on the eve of Apple’s ‘Back to Mac’ event. If you faced problems using PwnageTool 4.1 then checkout PwnageTool v4.1.2 that iPhone Dev Team has recently updated, which fixes issues for Mac OS X 10.5.x users.

For those who don’t know PwnageTool is a jailbreaking tool for Mac users, that allows you to create custom firmware to jailbreak your iOS devices. The custom firmware files which are built using PwnageTool 4.1 can be customized in a way that doesn’t include the latest 2.10.04 / 05.14.02 basebands of iOS 4.1. This is useful for iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G users who wants to unlock their phone on iOS 4.1 with older baseband using the current version of Ultrasn0w.

Supported Devices:

• Apple TV 2G
• iPad (firmware 3.2.2)
• iPod touch 4G
• iPod touch 3G
• iPhone 4
• iPhone 3GS
• iPhone 3G

Windows users will have to wait for Sn0wbreeze, which is the Windows version of the PwnageTool. iH8sn0w, the developer had published some screenshots of the upcoming tool but there is currently no ETA on when it will be released.

• If you’ve already jailbroken your iDevice using PwnageTool, Greenpois0n or Limera1n then you don’t need to re-run it.
• If your baseband is 05.14.04 / 2.10.4, Ultrasn0w unlock won’t work on your iPhone devices. iPhone 4 users, however, can still update to iOS 4.1 without updating baseband, a step by step guide can be found here.
