Verizon Plans To Introduce Voice Over Data With VoLTE
Verizon is on the verge of adding another trick up its sleeve – the carrier intends to announce VoLTE, which will enable voice calls to be routed over their fancy new LTE network, at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona. This will be opening the door to simultaneous voice and data usage, a feature that AT&T customers have been bragging about for quite some time now. Additional benefits will include better call quality for VoLTE-enabled phones, hough legacy 3G users will be left behind with no improved call clarity. Text and video over LTE with Verizon and Skype partnering up to provide conference calling opportunity to users is also in tow. Even though the HTC Thunderbolt is launching soon with the capability for simultaneous voice and data usage over 3G, Verizon won’t be pushing the feature as a major selling point until the launch of the LG Revolution, which will be VoLTE’s first inductee. There isn’t any word on pricing just yet, this is hopefully something we will be hearing more about at MWC in Spain.
