Currently, the developer, Steven Troughton-Smith found a workaround to get it working back in the final build of OS X 10.6.5. The process involves copying three files from the pre-release builds of 10.6.5 over to the final build and then adding your printer in Print & Fax preferences to get it all working again. The three files are the ones you will need:
- /usr/libexec/cups/filter/urftopdf
- /usr/share/cups/mime/apple.convs
- /usr/share/cups/mime/apple.types
For those of you who don’t already know, /usr is a hidden directory on your Macintosh HD and you’ll need to access it via command line. If you’re not sure how to access it read the instructions below. Be sure to backup the files you are replacing with the steps mentioned in this post. You can download the necessary files here.
How to access the /usr directory:
- Method 1: From the Terminal, type
open -a Finder /usr/libexec/cups
- Method 2: From Finder’s “Go” menu, select “Go to folder…”. That’ll bring up a window in which you can type “/usr/libexec/cups”.
