AirPlay Lacks Support For iPhone 3G

Apple’s new AirPlay supposedly is excluding the iPhone 3G, according to reports from 9to5Mac. Originally designed to let users stream their iTunes library anywhere in their house via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection, Airplay technology will most likely be found in all audio/video equipment in the coming months, including the AirPort Express and Apple TV. It looks like it’s only going to be for mobile users with the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, not those still using the 3G. Apple’s own website states that “AirPlay is coming soon and will be available on all iOS 4 devices,” which one would think includes the iPhone 3G, but unfortunately not.

It is pretty ironic that this is the case, especially since Apple is currently dealing with a class-action lawsuit regarding the performance of the iPhone 3G after installing iOS 4. It seems that they have decided that the iPhone 3G just isn’t capable of working properly with AirPlay. The new AirPlay feature definitely trims down the equipment and software needed to stream music from anywhere in the house wirelessly.

What do you think of the whole ordeal? Are you one of the unfortunate iPhone 3G users who now has another complaint added to the list of many? Does it make you want to upgrade your phone or possibly switch to another because of the lack of support from Apple? Let us know in the comments below!
