iPhone Dev-Team member MuscleNerd had confirmed on twitter that Saurik and Chpwn had been working hard to release an updated version of Cydia. As of now, Cydia is still broken and not running on the new Apple’s iOS 4.2 update but today iPhone hacker Johnny Franks has figured out a way to make Cydia work on jailbroken iOS devices running iOS 4.2. iOS device users who seeks to jailbreak iOS 4.2, can only expect to an updated Cydia after Apple releases final version of iOS 4.2. Till then, you can follow simple steps below to patch broken Cydia and force it to run on iOS 4.2.

How To Make Cydia Work On iOS 4.2 Golden Master:

Requirements:

• Jailbroken iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad on iOS 4.2. If you haven’t yet jailbroken you iDevice, you can follow our guides linked below.
• APT and SSH installed+enabled on your device.
• Cydia.patch, which can be download here.

Once you have met the requirements above, follow the steps listed below:

Step 1:

• Open command line prompt and run:

apt-get install bsdiff


Step 2:

• Place the Cydia.Patch file that you downloaded earlier in the Cydia.app directory on your device via SSH.

Step 3:

• Type the following commands in a command prompt on your device:

cd /Applications/Cydia.app/
cp Cydia_ Cydia.bak
bspatch Cydia.bak Cydia_ Cydia.patch
chmod +x+s Cydia_


Step 4:

• Reboot your iOS device

Cydia will work flwalessly on iOS 4.2.
