As the Samsung Galaxy Tab nears its launch here in the US, one question still remains: will there be a Wi-Fi only version of this tablet? We have heard rumors from both sides, but the affirmative side just got a big boost as it appears that a Wi-Fi only version was just passed through the FCC.

The device has been known as the GT-P1010 and has recently quietly received approval. This is great news for consumers who want the Galaxy Tab but don’t want to be tied to a specific carrier. Currently no release date or pricing details have been released, but you will be updated as soon as we find out, so stay tuned by following us on Twitter and/or subscribing to our RSS feed.
