This week on the Gadget Lab podcast, it’s gadgets, gadgets, gadgets: We’ve got a Dyson Hot space heater, an assortment of iPhone and iPad cases (and other nerdy stocking stuffers), and a sleigh-full of Android tablets.

Reviews editor Michael Calore and staff writer Christina Bonnington open the show this week with the Dyson Hot, a badass $400 space heater. The heater boasts an awesome design, and shoots both hot and cool air from an elongated cylindrical “doughnut” in the middle. Christina chose it as her staff pick for this year’s Wired Wish List.

Next up, Christina is joined by Gadget Lab editor Jon Phillips, who has a variety of holiday gadgetry and gifts in tow. First Jon shows off some Star Wars-themed gifts, breakfast beverages Dark Side Coffee and Dagobah Green Tea. There’s also a dark-chocolate Han Solo, frozen in carbonite (yum).

Christina then shows off a sampling of the season’s iPhone and iPad case offerings from some of the myriad manufacturers that make them. A few favorites were the Incipio Stowaway (which has space for credit cards or ID), Incase’s Leather Portfolio for iPad 2, and Speck’s CandyShell View, which has a pop-out, retractable kickstand.

To close the show, Michael shows us a few of this season’s smaller tablets, including the Kindle Fire and the Barnes & Noble Nook tablet, which are great for reading books and watching movies. They’re also both on the cheap side, running under $250. For $400 or less, Michael shows us the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7+ and the Toshiba Thrive 7-inch slates. Essentially, they’re the same as their larger counterparts, only … well, smaller. Lastly, we look at the $450 Sony Tablet S, a 9.5-inch tablet that is shaped kind of like a folded magazine. It’s comfortable to hold, and the screen is large enough to enjoy watching video on.
