The newest build if iOS 4.2, build 8C5101c, has been released by Apple to all of the registered developers, weighing in at 521 MB for our iDevices. Staying on target for the release, it appears that there have been a few additions and tweaks to the latest release. In particular, the AirPrint features have been detailed a bit further stating new compatible printer models from the HP Photosmart family, also including a note that iOS 4.2 devices can print directly to printers that have been shared through a Mac or a PC.

The notes do however state that you will be required to have Mac OS X 10.6.5 beta (available for developers) if you are on a Mac or Printer shared through iTunes 10.1 Beta (also available on the iOS developer page for a PC). We can expect iTunes 10.1 and Max OS X 10.6.5 to be released along with iOS 4.2. There has also been a new addition to the way that multitasking is presenting itself when switching through the apps. The animation has been updated and can be seen in the video below thanks to @macstoriesnet.

The AppStore has finally gained the GameCenter icon, allowing for the same easy browsing we’ve had on iTunes, indicating which games are compatible with the new Game Center app.  This firmware is also compatible with the iPhone (3G, 3GS, 4), iPod Touch (2nd, 3rd, 4th generation), and the iPad. Other then that, keep your eyes peeled for any further updates to what is packed inside the new beta. Popular hacker, ih8snow also tweeted that the iOS 4.2 Beta expires Friday October 29, 2010 so it’s just a few weeks off of being released.

As usual, if you aren’t a developer and you want to keep your jailbreak / unlock, DO NOT use this firmware. Keep in mind to backup your SHSH blobs. As for iTunes 10.1 there are just a few additions to Ping.
