Verizon Rumored To Sell CDMA iPhone By Q1 Of 2011

There is some great news for Verizon users in the US. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple’s iPhone might be made available on Verizon’s CDMA network by the end of 2010 ending the exclusive AT&T hold on the iPhone in the US. The new iPhone is said to be similar in design to the iPhone 4 which is currently sold by AT&T and is expected to be released in the first quarter of next year.

Interestingly enough, Apple is said to be developing a new iPhone 5 with a different form factor but no information was available. A spokeswoman for Apple and Qualcomm and a spokesman for Verizon Wireless did decline to comment on the issue. If the rumors turn out to be legit then this would be the first time in the US that the iPhone will be made available across multiple carriers apart from AT&T. Statistically, Verizon is the largest US wireless carrier, with 93 million subscribers, and if Apple signs a deal with Verizon then the iPhone 4 sales would get nearly doubled. Steve Jobs probably knows that Android is quickly catching up with the market and it is better to act now before it is too late.

Is the iPhone being available on Verizon something you are looking forward to? Share your take on the situation in the comments below. As usual, stay tuned for any news and information on the topic by following us on Twitter and/or subscribing to our RSS feed.
