The famous and supposedly “retired” hacker, George Hots, better known as GeoHot has mentioned that he is prepped to launch limera1n on 10/11/10 (the 1 year anniversary of the release of blackra1n). It is a bit ironic because just yesterday, posixninja, who has been working on SHAtter has already set an ETA of 10/10/10 at 10:10:10 AM for GreenP0ison (his jailbreak for all A4 devices such as the iPhone 4, the iPad, and iPod Touch 4G).

GeoHot has returned from his previously claimed “retirement” and announced a release day after GreenP0ison’s slated release date with a jailbreak that would work on ALL iDevices. The two jailbreaks each use separate exploits, although GreenP0ison uses the newer exploit (SHAtter), while GeoHot uses the exploit in limera1n (yes, it still works). GeoHot hasn’t made an official announcement, so there is still the off chance that someone will randomly talk him out of releasing it, but it is looking pretty solid otherwise. There is still some talk of p0sixninja even using GeoHot’s exploit in GreenP0ison, saving SHAtter for a future jailbreak, but it doesn’t look like p0sixninja is interested in it, and it would push back the release dates even more.
