The second round of Wired’s October Madness tournament commences on Thursday, October 15, and this time there’ll be more than beer.

There will be sharks.

Wired will be stopping by the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, where they will be hosting their annual

Sharktoberfest celebration. And this year, in addition to shark-inspired art, trivia, and more, visitors will be able to sample Anderson Valley’s Boont Amber Ale and Speakeasy’s Big Daddy IPA to decide which fine brew will advance to the Elite Eight of October Madness.

Big Daddy IPA (6.5 percent ABV) was actually the first beer in our tourney to advance to the Sweet 16, as it knocked off its brewer’s flagship Prohibition Ale in a tight one-vote victory.

After that, it was Anderson Valley Brewing Company’s Boont Amber Ale that went up against Summer Solstice Cerveza Crema and pulled off an easy five-vote win, due to its dark, rich flavor and pine tree bouquet.

So come on down to the California Academy of Sciences Thursday night from 6 to 10 pm. Tickets are only $12 each, and if you’re one of the first 500 attendees, the beer is on us.
