Major Nelson from Microsoft sent word that the company would push out a redesigned Xbox.com tomorrow both in the run-up to Kinect and to link it into Windows Phone 7 as well. The refresh will let users play web games not just with other Xbox Live friends but also with Windows Phone 7 users. Microsoft hasn’t said if this includes native Windows Phone 7 apps with a web tie-in or not as of yet.

The design also puts more previously Xbox 360 – only controls on the web. Some of these features include the ability to edit their avatars on the web, and the ability to check family reports to see how individual members have been using the game system. Many other areas are streamlined as well such as messages and requests that come into a unified inbox. It should be easier to find and both shop for items online as well as keep track of your Xbox Live account.

To roll out the new website, Microsoft is taking down its site for an unspecified amount of time starting from 5AM Eastern. Gaming on Xbox Live should remain intact throughout this time. As usual, stay tuned for more news and info on the topic by following us on Twitter and/or subscribing to our RSS feed.
