A Duran Duran album produced by Timbaland?

Elusive items like these don’t only exist in pop culture lore. They’re real. Studios throw unwanted films in vaults never to be released. Artists eliminate early recordings that may embarrass them. Wired’s September issue set out to explore the myths and rumors of unattainable pop culture with “Lost: Wired’s Guide to Pop Culture’s Buried Treasure.” Senior Editor Chris Baker led a team of writers trying to unearth various gems that disappeared throughout the years (for reasons both good and bad). Some became DVD extras or special re-releases; others wound up in the Internet’s back channels. Believe it or not, certain titles aren’t available even today. But, by all means, let us know if you find the lost footage from Stanley Kubrick’s Napoleon.
