For all of you who are waiting for the untethered jailbreak and have been reading about the deadline of Christmas by the iPhone Dev Team, you might be disappointed to hear that the deadline may not be met. Comex has recently tweeted that he may not be able to complete his untethering of the current jailbreak by Christmas. His tweet read:

I think I’m going to miss my Christmas deadline…

Just this past Tuesday, the iPhone Dev Team announced that their “backup plan” untethered jailbreak is nearly ready and won’t even require a restore of your device. Comex’s untether is more extensible and shouldn’t require access to the developer only 4.2b3 IPSW; thus, it’s suggested that users wait for his.
