Are you looking to buy a Verizon iPhone 4? Are you wondering if you should buy it? What are the pros and cons have having a CDMA iPhone? With lots of smartphones likely to be introduced this year with dual core processors, 4G LTE, and NFC, here is what we think. Hopefully this will help you make your decision when it comes to buying an iPhone 4 on Verizon. 1.) The Verizon iPhone Cannot Be Unlocked It isn’t a phone for travelers. You can’t unlock it to work in Europe or any other countries, and above all, it doesn’t have a SIM. However, international roaming is supported in Canada, Mexico, Asia, Africa but not in Europe or Russia, or many other parts of the world. Unlocking the iPhone 4 is pretty much required, when you move out of the USA and still want to use your iPhone in other countries. If you frequently move ot other countries or going permanently out of the USA, buy and AT&T iPhone 4 only. Many people ask: is unlocking even possible? Unlocking the CDMA iPhone 4 would require an ESN/MEID from a donor phone with service. This technique is currently a US federal crime. So you can’t unlock the CDMA iPhone 4 at all, neither any tool is available. However, you can jailbreak your iPhone 4 on the Verizon Wireless network using GreenPois0n which is legal and run third party apps that aren’t supported in the App Store. 2.) Data + Voice (Multi-tasking) The Verizon iPhone 4 can’t support Voice and Data concurrently because it runs voice and data on different tracks, and CDMA chip doesn’t support. on the other hand the iPhone 4 on AT&T lets you use apps or search sites while talking, which can also be very helpful in instances such as following directions on MapQuest app while talking to your friend. 3.) Slow Data Speeds According to the early Verizon’s iPhone 4 reveiws, AT&T beats Verizon when it comes to data speed. According to Engadget, “data rates on the Verizon iPhone 4 we tested were dramatically slower than those on its AT&T counterpart.” Similar results were found by Walt Mossberg as well saying “In these many tests, despite a few Verizon victories here and there, AT&T’s network averaged 46% faster at download speeds and 24% faster at upload speeds.” 4.) iPhone 4 Has No 4G / LTE Capabilities If you are in one of the 38 Verizon LTE cities then it makes no sense to get a device that isn’t LTE-capable and this first Verizon iPhone is not. Signing a two-year contract and restricting yourself to 3G is not a good idea. Many prefer to wait for the iPhone 5 and see if there will be any 4G / LTE capabilities. 5.) Antenna Issues Still Plague Verizon iPhone 4 Not all users will be plagued with the antenna issue on the Verizon iPhone 4. However if you live or end up spending lots of time in an area with weak or inconsistent Verizon Wireless 3G coverage, and you tend to hold your iPhone in a decidedly firm grip, you could find yourself experiencing the wireless signal attenuation problems that plagued Apple’s AT&T iPhone 4 launch last summer, formerly dubbed as “antenna-gate,” according to iLounge. 6.) It’s The Same iPhone 4 When it comes to design, it’s the same iPhone 4 as the one on AT&T. If you are a technophile who tends to be an early adopter of the latest devices, the Verizon iPhoen is not a good idea. With dual core processors, 4G LTE, and NFC likely to be introduced into lots of new phones in 2011, staying away from the Verizon iphone 4 would be a wise idea.
