Rumors coming out of Asia today indicate that Apple may be increasing the screen size of the next iPhone model to 4-inches. This would put the iPhone in line with other smart phones currently on the market such as, the Motorola Droid X and HTC Evo 4G, Samsung Galaxy S, all of which have a 4.3-inch screen. According to a report from Digitimes, The component suppliers noted that the production lines for Apple’s next generation iPhone have begun testing, and Apple is interesting in expanding the screen size to 4-inches to support the tablet PC market as the vendor only has a 9.7-inch iPad in the market. Digitimes has a spotty track record, but I wouldn’t be too surprised if Apple did release an iPhone with a larger screen in the near future. In another report, iPhone 5 is claimed to gallop on A5 processor. Apple is reportedly looking to outsource the production of its A4 processor as well as the next-generation ARM Cortex-A9-based A5 processor to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), according to industry sources. According to Digitimes Research, the iPad 2 will support an enhanced version of the A4 and the A5 will power the iPhone 5. TSMC will initially produce the improved A4, and could likely become the exclusive manufacturer of the A5. With rumors continuing to swirl around the possibility of a smaller version of iPhone dubbed iPhone Nano, it looks as if Apple may be planning to expand the iPhone line considerably this year. The next time you upgrade your iPhone, you may have a few new options to choose from other than memory capacity. [Source: Digitimes 1,2] Authors:
