Apple Released iOS 4.3.5 – Jailbroken Using RedSn0w 0.9.8b4
Apple recently released the latest update to iOS, now version 4.3.5, to address security flaws. This update comes quickly after the 4.3.4 update which addressed a similar security flaw used to jailbreak iDevices. According to Apple’s Knowledge Base article about the update mentions the following: “Available for: iOS 3.0 through 4.3.4 for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 (GSM), iOS 3.1 through 4.3.4 for iPod touch (3rd generation) and later, iOS 3.2 through 4.3.4 for iPad. Impact: An attacker with a privileged network position may capture or modify data in sessions protected by SSL/TLS. Description: A certificate chain validation issue existed in the handling of X.509 certificates. An attacker with a privileged network position may capture or modify data in sessions protected by SSL/TLS. Other attacks involving X.509 certificate validation may also be possible. This issue is addressed through improved validation of X.509 certificate chains.” At the time of its release, there was no known jailbreaking methods. It was recently discovered that RedSn0w 0.9.8b4 can and will jailbreak iOS 4.3.5 with a tethered jailbreak method. It still beats having no jailbreak if you accidentally upgraded. All you have to do is point RedSn0w to the iOS 4.3.4 release. For those of you who were stuck on iOS 4.3.5, seems like there is a light at the end of the tunnel for you guys now. Be sure to download RedSn0w and the approprite iOS 4.3.4 firmware for your device. The rest is as per usual, just follow the instructions and you will be good to go. Authors:
