The

component supplier, Sintek Photronics, has specifically denied that his company is sampling capacitive touch panels for an alleged touchscreen iMac. This is all according to DigiTimes, the same Tiawanese industry publication that was the original source of the rumor. The report previously claimed that Sintek sent samples of capacitive touch panels to Apple for a new touchscreen all-in-one desktop computer. It was said the supposed device will have screen sizes of 20 inches and greater.

Although the company has denied sampling the touch panels, DigiTimes does not retract it’s belief that Apple is working on a  new touch-enabled iMac. The site has perpetuated the rumor since early 2010. It was in Jaunuary that it was claimed that a 22-inch touchscreen iMac would launch this year, however the original report involving Sintek claimed that Apple was testing components, suggesting a product launch was not imminent.

One of the noteworthy patents that was discovered this year shows a touch-capable iMac style desktop computer that could operate in a traditional format, but with a hinge on the back that would allow it to be tilted back for easier access for the user’s fingertips. As for now, it seems like all of those who ere hoping a touchscreen iMac would be released will have to wait.
