SAN DIEGO — In 1966, the classic Batman series hit television screens and thrilled a generation of children and adults. With its kitschy dialogue, rubber bombs and costumed characters, it turned Bruce Wayne (played by Adam West) into a bat-powered TV hero, along with his sidekick Robin (played by Burt Ward).
More than 45 years later, new fans are still flocking to see vintage Batman reruns on TV and streams on the internet. So why does Batman Classic endure? We invited original caped crusader West to the Wired Cafe at Comic-Con International and asked him about filming the series, his favorite bat-tastic episode and how long he spent holding that bomb on the Santa Monica pier.
Holy shark repellent — it’s the Batman!
