recently confirmed that the iPhone Dev Team is not going to release an UltraSn0w unlock for iOS 4.1 basebands (05.14/02.10) until iOS 4.2 is released which is due in November. After eagerly waiting for a new jailbreak, two jailbreaks have been announced. GreenP0ison will jailbreak the iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, iPad, and Apple TV (2nd generation) but not be able to unlock them as the baseband is updated to 2.10.4 in the iOS 4.1 firmware. This news is pretty disappointing for all users who were desperately waiting for an iOS 4.1 carrier unlock. GeoHot also mentioned his own jailbreak being released the day after, which is said to jailbreak ALL iOS devices, but this still doesn’t change the fact that the unlock won’t be released until after iOS 4.2 is released.

The iPhone Dev-Team won’t release an unlock for iOS 4.1 basebands (05.14/02.10). Wait for 4.2.

It seems that the team has already carrier unlocked the A4 / S5L8930 devices but they do not want to waste the exploit. The cat and mouse game continues and those of you who were waiting for carrier unlocks for the newest version of the iOS are stuck in the loop.
