If you are one of the many people who have been accessing Gmail using Safari on your iPhone for quite some time, have you noticed the subtle changes that have arrived as of late? Google recently announced th at they have made a few improvements in the way Gmail works on your iPhone.

The new features include enhancements such as making the scrolling quicker and getting the option to access your toolbars from any point on the page. The scroll speed is now dependent on the speed of your swipe gesture – making navigation a lot easier. As mentioned earlier, the second major update is the availability of the toolbar on screen even after you scroll towards the extremities of the page. Earlier, users were limited to a fixed toolbar which wasn’t accessible when you scrolled away from it. Google has tried many combinations of these new buttons and has homed in on this final version based on feedback received from users.

To checkout the improved Gmail, all you need is to visit gmail.com from your iPhone or iPod Touch using the default Safari browser. Make sure your device is running iOS 4 or later. If you are still seeing the old version, you might want to clear your cache and refresh the page.

What is your take on the improvements? Would you still prefer a native iPhone app for Gmail? Let us know in the comment section below!
