As per a report by CNNMoney Skyfire Browser App for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch has finally been approved by Apple and will be available in the App Store on Thursday.

Skyfire, the Mountain View based developer of mobile web browsers had submitted their iOS app for approval back in September. One of the most interesting aspects about the Skyfire iOS app is its ability to run Adobe Flash videos specially when you consider Steve Job’s stand against Flash. Skyfire will join Opera Mini as one of the very few third party browser apps that offer a viable alternative to Mobile Safari on the iOS platform.

Features:

  • Adaptive streaming technology ensures optimal utilization of network and processor bandwidth (preserves battery life)
  • Sharing to Facebook and Twitter – it’s simple!
  • Facebook Quickview – Check your Facebook News/Wall without opening another app or page
  • Intuitive and finger friendly user interface for easy browsing experience
  • Load full desktop webpages on your mobile device
  • Multi-tab browsing – open up to eight windows and browse simultaneously

The app remotely converts Flash videos into HTML5 format before they are embedded into the user’s browser. Unlike apps that Apple has rejected in the past, the process for making Flash iPhone-compatible is done on Skyfire’s servers and not on the device, which probably helped with the approval process. However, Skyfire browser still won’t be able to play Flash-based games, or the popular TV streaming service Hulu.

“one major website that Skyfire won’t have an effect on is Hulu, which blocked the app from downloading its videos. Hulu, which hosts TV shows and movies from the major networks and studios, is free for PC users in the United States. But mobile users have to pay $10 a month for a subscription to Hulu Plus. ”

While users may get access to Flash on their iDevices using Skyfire, they won’t be able to interact with these Flash files. This is because the entire format conversion happens outside the iPhone’s local environment and consequently would render Flash-based games and music players dysfunctional.

Skyfire will be available on the App Store for $2.99 on Thursday. We’ll let you as soon as it is available.
