Google Voice cofounder Craig Walker has resigned as a Google group product manager. But he’s staying in the family – he’s joining Google Ventures as the firm’s first entrepreneur in residence.

Walker was previously the CEO of Grand Central, which became Google Voice after the company was

acquired in 2007.

He’ll be working on his next startup, although he won’t say now what it might be. “It’s definitely the goal to start a new company,” he told me on the phone earlier. When I asked about why he’s leaving Google Voice while it’s still an unfinished product, he said it’s being left in good hands. Cofounder Vincent Paquet will now run Google Voice solely.
