The Chronic Dev-Team has released GreenPois0n jailbreak tool to the masses. Greenpois0n jailbreak for iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, 3G, iPad is now available for download. You can download Greenpois0n jailbreak from here.

This guide will show you how to jailbreak your iDevice using the new GreenPois0n software by the Chronic Dev Team. It works on iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPad, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G 4.0-4.1 and beyond. It only works in Windows at the moment, although a Mac version of the software should be out soon.

This release of GreenPois0n supports:

• iPhone 4
• iPhone 3G S
• iPod touch (4th Generation)
• iPod touch (3rd Generation)
• iPad

The next update will contain support for:

• Apple TV (2nd Generation)
• iPod touch (2nd Generation)

Important:

• GreenPois0n will hacktivate iPhone 4 iOS 4.1.
• Once Apple pushes a new firmware update, GreenPois0n will become a tethered jailbreak. [Source]
• Save SHSH blobs for iOS 4.1 Now so that you may enjoy untethered jailbreak even after a new firmware is out.
• Greenpois0n is a jailbreak tool NOT an unlock for iPhone 4. If you depend on unlock, better wait for PwnageTool which will be out soon after Greepois0n [RECOMMENDED] or use Tinyumbrella to update to iOS 4.1 while preserving baseband. Here is how to: update iPhone 4 to iOS 4.1 without updating baseband
• This will only work on the iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch 4G. It does /not/ support any older devices as they do not contain the A4 chip that contains the exploit.

How To Jailbreak iOS 4.1 With GreenPois0n:

Step1:

Download the greenpois0n software from here.

Step2:

Make sure your device is plugged in to the computer and powered OFF. Double click the greenpois0n icon to run it, press “Prepare to Jailbreak (DFU),” and follow the instructions to put your device in DFU mode.

NOTE: The “sleep” button is the top power button, the home button is the button on the face of the device.

Step 3:

When it’s finished putting you in DFU mode, you can let go of the home button, and press “Jailbreak!” in the bottom left of the greenpois0n program.

Step 4:

The iDevice will flash a white screen a couple times, and evenautally also start up in recovery mode – just let it sit. The entire process takes a couple minutes, during which greenpois0n will simply say “Jailbreaking…”

Step 5:

When it’ finished, it will tell you “Jailbreak Complete!” in the bottom left of the window, and you can press quit. That’s it! You’re jailbroken! Wait for the device to power on, and enjoy your newly jailbroken device.

NOTE:

At the moment there seems to be a bug where greenpois0n is not actually running the ramdisk on some systems, this should be worked out soon. That’s not a harmful bug – it just means while the program will think you’re jailbroken, you won’t be. If you try the GreenPois0n jailbreak, do share your experience with us in the comments below.
