all know by now that members of the iPhone Dev-Team have been working hard to come up with the updated version of PwnageTool to jailbreak iOS 4.1. They released a demo video of the tool working with the SHAtter exploit, but since the release of GeoHot’s “limera1n” jailbreak, the dev-team members have edited pwnagetool and are using the limera1n exploit found by GeoHot and saving the SHAtter exploit for later use.

A respected member of the iPhone Dev-Team, @wizdazhas successfully ported the tool to work with PwnageTool. This is great news for those users waiting on an custom firmware package in order to maintain their current baseband. Ultrasn0w unlockers should wait for PwnageTool.

PwnageTool jailbreak for iOS 4.1 is rumored to release this Sunday 10/17/10 allowing creation of custom, non baseband updating, firmwares. iPhone 4 users, however, can still update to iOS 4.1 without updating baseband, a step by step guide can be found here.
