Video: Interactive Hockey Riot Shows 360-Degree Chaos

The riots following Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals last week were not Vancouver’s finest hour, and with all the incredible video and still photos that have emerged since, it’s been hard to fully appreciate what it must have felt like to actually be there, what with all the looting and potentially exploding police cars.

Ryan Whitehead of northSudio 360 has kindly solved that problem for those who couldn’t be among the throngs of Vancouverites who saw fit to deface their wonderful city in the name of hockey failure. Today, he unveiled his four-minute-long, 360-degree tour of the 2011 Vancouver hockey riots. Not only does the footage give you a flyover feel as you move through the crowds, but you can also rotate the video in real-time, looking from every possible perspective as Vancouver progressed from hockey-mad city to just plain mad over the course of several hours.

There’s a YouTube version that that gives the full panorama of video laid out flat, but you’re also going to want to head over to northStudio’s site and experience the tricked-out version.
