GreenPois0n jailbreak tool rumored to release to the masses October 10th, 2010, 10.10.10 at 10:10am (GMT) will be an Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch 4G and Apple TV 2G on iOS 4.1 and iPad 3.2.2. The Chronicdevteam have confirmed it and credited comex for getting greenpois0n untethered. iPhone hacker Musclenerd also confirmed in a series of tweets -

“Yes SHAtter itself is tethered. @comex came up with a way to untether it on 4.1/3.2.2?

“SHAtter is yet another breed of exploit. Bootrom-based but requires userland “assistance” for untethered boots (@comex did this for 4.1)”

Those who don’t know, a tethered jailbreak means you cannot boot your iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G and iPad 3.2.2 without connecting it to a computer. Untethered means the Greenpois0n jailbreak is independent of computer, and it can boot all by itself. There are no advantages to a tethered jailbreak, its just that when the developers release these applications, the tethered ones come first, then the untethered, if possible.

Important:

• GreenPois0n will hacktivate iPhone 4 iOS 4.1.
• Once Apple pushes a new firmware update, GreenPois0n will become a tethered jailbreak. [Source]

• Greenpois0n is a jailbreak tool NOT an unlock for iPhone 4.
