One of the features that has previously not been implemented in iOS devices was the popular alternative to the simple tap to type. With its patented sliding and recognition technology, swiping your finger through the letters of the word you are spelling out will spell out the word you desire. According tot he Swype website, the software has been deployed to over 26 million phones in 50+ countries. The entire list comprises of Android and Windows OS phones. Swype has promised beta testing for iOS however, restrictions by Apple have made this very difficult. Jailbreak developer Andrew Liu, better known as @WyndWarrior decided that the community couldn’t wait any longer and decided to port Swype to iOS. It is currently in its early beta stages but reportedly works well. Liu has confirmed that there are some limitations that he is working to fix including the fact that the Swype beta doesn’t work in AppStore applications or Cydia (only in te stock iOS currently) and no blue line to indicate exactly where you are swiping. There hasn’t been a mention of which devices and firmwares are supported so test it at your own risk. You can have access to Swype beta by doing one of the following: Adding the following repository: https://wynd.x10.mx in Cydia Download the file from MediaFire: Swype Beta (v0.1.0) If you want to keep up to date on the progress for the Swype Beta for iOS then follow Andrew Liu (@WyndWarrior) on Twitter.
