How does Santa deliver presents to 2 million kids in one night without being seen? He uses a mile-long sci-fi mothership and a gadget-toting elf army that scares the crap out of NATO and “causes global mayhem,” according to Arthur Christmas writer Peter Baynham in the video above.

comic-con-2011

Baynham (Borat, Bruno) and Aardman Animations co-founder Peter Lord sat down with Wired.com during Comic-Con International last month to discuss two upcoming animated movies: Arthur Christmas, due this November, and The Pirates! Band of Misfits, arriving in March 2012.

The only thing missing was the mead. Or is that ham? Lord’s Band of Misfits happily gobble boatfuls of pork as their fearless captain (voiced by Hugh Grant) monomaniacally pursues the Pirate of the Year Award — “the Oscars of piracy,” the director says. That is, until they run into a younger, less dignified Charles Darwin, voiced by Doctor Who’s timeless Time Lord David Tennant, and all evolutionary hell breaks loose.

Screen the reel above and let us know in the comments section below if you’re intrigued by Band of Misfits‘ leper boat and stop-motion mayhem or Arthur Christmas‘ CGI holiday hacking and Santa physics.
