image Amazon and American Express have announced a partnership that will allows AmEx card members to accumulate rewards to use for purchases on Amazon.com. Similar to the way that card members can use points towards flights and hotel stays, users can now contribute these points for purchases on

Amazon.com.

Any American Express cardmembers who are enrolled in the card’s Membership Rewards program can accumulate points from purchases on their AmEx cards. These points can then be used across Amazon.com.

AmEx card members simply have to link their Membership Rewards account to their Amazon account and when users make purchases on Amazon, they will be able to automatically use points when checking out.

While not monumental, this feature is sure to be incredibly useful for AmEx users. And I’d expect Amazon to strike similar deals with other Rewards Programs. Especially when it comes to big-ticket items like electronics or luxury goods like watches, the ability to uses AmEx points towards expensive purchases could be very useful for cardmembers.
