Many people use the iSight camera on their iMac as the video source for webcam and just videos in general. While it works well, sometimes it isn’t convenient since it is held in place. This causes people to seek for a second camera to add to the Mac in order to point and record in another direction aside from right in front of the monitor. The issue that arises when trying to do this is the conflicting issues many USB cameras tend to have with the iSight. Furthermore, sometimes people want to the ability to just be able to take a camera around anywhere and capture video directly. The answer to people in similar situations is finally here!

SHAPE Services, the developer of numerous other iPhone apps such as Business Card Reader and Smart Scanner, recently release Mobiola WebCamera for iPhone (with a price tag of $4.99). This app turns your iPhone into a mobile webcam and surprisingly, for a “1.0 release”, it works very well. To use the webcam on your computer, you need to download a free client software package for Mac or Windows. Once downloaded, it contains the installers for both platforms, so if you have both a Mac and a PC, you are in luck. Once the client app is installed and running on your computer, you can use the app on your iPhone to connect to the computer over Wi-Fi and beam the live video straight to your computer.

A pretty nifty and handy app if you ask us. Did any of you end up getting it or plan to get it after hearing about it? Let us know in the comments below! As usual, stay tuned for more news and info regarding your iDevices by following us on Twitter and/or subscribing to our RSS feed.
