We reported yesterday that Winamp released a new version of its Android application that allowed users to sync their music wirelessly with their Windows desktop. It’s a great feature, but in the race to become the ‘iTunes of Android’, another contender has entered the picture to challenge Winamp.

A company by the name of doubleTwist has launched its coolest feature ever: wireless sync, dubbed ‘AirSync’. And it’s not just for music — doubleTwist will let you wirelessly sync your movies, and photos as well. They also offers a desktop media player that looks a lotlike iTunes (which is no accident given the ‘iTunes for Android’ theme), and it’s added support for the Android App Store, a music store through Amazon MP3?s API, and a directory of Podcasts.

The desktop client and the regular Android app (both of which you’ll need for AirSync to work) are still 100% free, but the AirSync feature itself will cost you $4.99 (on sale for $0.99 until 10,000 people download it).

Considering that it’s a new app, not all the bugs are ironed out yet. If you get a chance to try out the app on your android phone please let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
