AT&T Begins To Offer Standard Mobile Insurance For iPhones Starting July 17th
AT&T has recently started to inform customers that all iPhone models will be eligible for their standard mobile insurance program starting on July 17. The Standard program will cost $4.99 plus a deductible, which varies from $50 to %125 depending on the model of the iPhone being insured. AT&T previously didn’t even offer insurance on the iPhone until 2010 when they partnered with a third-party company and offered coverage for a fee of $11.99 a month plus a $199 deductible. This insurance will finally become cheaper and something more people can afford. The real question that arises is what took Apple so long? Apple Care doesn’t seem to protect the iPhone from any of the normal reasons why one would get insurance. Such as losing it, having it stolen, or even ruining the iPhone after having a few drinks. AT&T’s insurance programs protect owners against accidental liquid or physical damage, loss, theft, and mechanical and/or electrical failure. It basically covers everything Apple’s plan does not. iPhone owners should be able to rest at last knowing their devices are insured, even though it will still probably cost a hefty price to have it replaced.
