Google‘s Nexus S has only been out for a 24 hours and it has already been rooted.

Koush, a member of the xda-developers has put together a quick and simple process to achieve this, considering you have rooted devices before and/or have experience in ADB.

For those of you who don’t already know, rooting your Android phone gives you full access to the file system. This will enable you to modify the phone’s firmware to whatever you want to have on your phone like skinning the UI, modding, overclocking CPU, flashing custom ROMs and so on.

Here is an image posted by well known Android developer clockwordmod, which shows Nexus S running custom Clockworkmod recovery.

If you picked up a Nexus S yesterday and want to open up the handset to the world of unofficial ROMs and other tweaks, you can find step-by-step instructions to rooting the smartphone here or here.
