Alex Trebek's Side Gig? Making College Football Cool

You might think you know longtime Jeopardy host Alex Trebek, but even Sean Connery would be impressed with this mashup.

Thanks to master audio dubbers Ty Hildenbrandt and Dan Rubenstein at The Solid Verbal, we can now envision a college football landscape where the predominant TV announcer isn’t Brent Musberger or Brad Nessler but rather everyone’s favorite smarty-pants game show host.

Here, Hildenbrandt and Rubenstein have transported the sound bites from who-knows-how-many episodes of Jeopardy and spliced them together into a humorous, unholy hybrid of stoic game-show intellectualism and run-and-gun football offense. The result is a meticulously synced and well-crafted piece of game footage that’ll have you praying that Final Jeopardy never arrives.

We’ve seen this trick before, as evinced by the recently “found” footage of Gus Johnson, everyone’s favorite college basketball announcer, commentating on Landon Donovan’s incredible World Cup goal against Algeria last summer in South Africa.

Still, if we can get Trebek in the booth for even just a few bowl games next go-around, his presence might just be enough to make us forget about the BCS’ long-documented ineptitude.

At least we know he’d do better than Watson.
