The sole representative of the eastern half of the country in our October Madness beer tournament won twice as many of the more than 4,500
The 60 Minute IPA from Dogfish Head Craft Brewery of Milton, Delaware, defeated Anchor Steam from Anchor Brewing in San Francisco, and will soon face off against Sierra Nevada’s Kellerweis Hefeweizen. The Kellerweis has already beaten an IPA, taking out Sierra’s Torpedo Extra IPA in the first round, and went on to upset one of the favorites in the tournament, Deschutes’ Black Butte Porter.
Upcoming October Madness events: The final two Sweet Sixteen challenges take place this week. Tonight at Wired HQ, Full Sail’s Session Black Lager takes on ThirstyBear’s Brown Bear Ale, a last-minute substitution for the brewery’s Rum Runner which has been benched until next season.
And if you’re in the San Francisco area, join us at Shotwell’s in the Mission on Wednesday, November 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. for a battle between Ninkasi’s Believer Double Red Ale and Mad River’s Steelhead Extra Pale Ale.
