Google Search – Revamped Version Of Google’s iPhone Mobile App
Google has just released a completely redesigned version of Google Mobile App and has also given it a new name – Google Search. The Google Search app comes with features such as a new toolbar, quicker access to the search bar, number of improvements to features such as Google Goggles, Voice Search, Search with My Location, Gmail unread counts and more. The difference is immediately visible on the app’s main menu. Google’s logo now dominates the top third of the screen, with the search bar positioned underneath. This home screen still provides access to settings and a menu of Google app shortcuts, but once you start a web search, those options slide away from view. In the old version, settings and apps were always available from a bar along the bottom of the screen. The other big change to Google’s iPhone app is the addition of search filters, accessed by swiping in from the left side of the screen. These filters — places, news, images, shopping and so on — look a lot like the sidebar on Google’s desktop Website. Google’s Alastair Tse, Software Engineer and Robert Hamilton, Product Manager provide details about the new features and changes: you’ll see that there are now more ways to interact with the app. When browsing through search results or looking at a webpage, you can swipe down to see the search bar or change your settings. For those who use other Google apps, there’s an Apps button at the bottom of the screen for rapid access to the mobile versions of our products. Google Search app also gets a new toolbar, which can be accessed by swiping from left to right. We really like the new user interface and design of the app and might end up using it more. What do you think about the new Google Search app? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
