The 17

year old hacker who goes by the name of Hexxeh has successfully ported the Chromium OSonto the iPad and has posted an image on his own blog showing the Chromium OS (the open source version of Chrome OS) running on the iPad as well. The developer, Hexxeh, is well known in the Chrome community and has even published some of his own Chromium builds, leading us to believe that this is not a fake one:

For those of you who don’t already know, Chromium OS is a lightweight, lightning fast operating system for your netbook, laptop, or even desktop. With the familiar environment of Chromium/Chrome, the entire web is at your fingertips in seconds. HTML5 and Flash are fully supported, allowing you to enjoy the very best that the web has to offer.

You will most likely need to jailbreak your iPad before installing the Chromium OS. Ideas and developments in this direction however, are very exciting and make us all eagerly await with interest for further details. You can also watch a video demo of the Chromium OS being used on an iPad below:

Once the hacker publishes more details, we will post a guide on how to install the Google Chrome OS onto your very own Apple iPad. Stay tuned for more info by following us on Twitter and/or subscribing to our RSS feed.
