Today you’ll likely start seeing iTunes innocently offer you a new version of iOS “version 4.1″. As per the iPhone Dev-Team’s official blog -
Don’t accept it…it’s a trap!
If your iOS device relies on a jailbreak or a carrier unlock, make sure you keep your “clicky” fingers away from that tempting “Update” button in iTunes until and unless new jailbreak and unlock tools are available. There is currently no word as to when these new tools to be made available. Till then, make sure that you have PDF Patch installed from Cydia on iOS 4.0.1 to keep your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch safe from PDF vulnerability in iOS 4.0.1.
As per the iPhone Dev-Team blog, users who have their SHSH blobs saved can downgrade to iOS 4.0.1, but users who relay on the unlock if you upgrade to iOS 4.1, there is no way to revert to the older baseband at this time.
While those of you who have Cydia or TinyUmbrella backups of your FW hashes will always be able to get back to 4.0.1 if you make this mistake, this doesn’t hold for unlockers. There’s currently no known way to revert your baseband — if you update your baseband you’ll lose the ultrasn0w unlock, possible forever.
